About Between the Ordinary
Between the Ordinary is grounded in the belief that meaning emerges through relationship, between image and viewer, memory and moment, what surrounds us, and what lives within us.
Ordinary life is where we spend most of our time. This project honors the sacred presence within those spaces.
It was created as an invitation to slow down and attend to the moments that often go unnoticed, yet deeply felt.
The reflection cards are wordless visual companions. Each image is open-ended, allowing generous space for personal interpretation.
These images are created through a blend of photography, digital art, and AI-assisted tools. Each piece is curated, shaped, and finished by Carly in post.
The imagery reflects a wide range of ages across the lifespan and honors multicultural experiences, offering representations that feel inclusive, timeless, and deeply human.
There is no single way to use the cards. They are meant to meet you where you are.
About the Creator
Between the Ordinary was created by Carly Sullens, a multi-award-winning, published fine-art photographer whose work explores symbolism, presence, and emotional layers through imagery.
With a background in photography, art history, and art therapy, her creative practice is informed by both visual tradition and lived human experience. Her work often centers on the quiet, the overlooked, and the in-between moments that shape our inner lives.
This project reflects a long-standing interest in how images can hold space rather than explain it. Her art therapy background taught her that imagery is often a clearer language; it can communicate what’s true before words arrive.
This deck is an invitation to use images as a gentle bridge between communicating inner experience and everyday life.
